About the Role
New England Truck Center (NETC) is seeking an Human Resource Generalist to join our team at our Exeter, NH location. This is a hands-on, full-spectrum HR role supporting a growing, multi-site and multi-state trucking and transportation organization. You will work across all core HR functions while dedicating a significant portion of your time to payroll administration. This is a fully onsite position, and the right candidate will be comfortable both working independently and collaborating with colleagues and leadership across multiple locations. This role will require regular site visits to our other NETC Fleet Services locations.What You'll Do
Payroll Administration (~40% of time)- Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using our Paylocity platform
- Audit timekeeping records for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and partner with managers to ensure timely approvals
- Support garnishment processing, tax withholdings, and other deduction management
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws across multiple states (MA, NH, ME, CT)
- Collaborate with Finance on payroll reconciliation and reporting
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee payroll questions
- Support full-cycle recruiting activities including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer processing
- Facilitate new hire onboarding, orientation, and benefits enrollment
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS system; ensure data integrity across all HR transactions
- Assist with employee relations matters, documenting conversations and supporting managers through performance and conduct processes
- Support benefits administration including enrollment, changes, and responding to employee inquiries
- Contribute to HR policy communication, compliance tracking, and documentation
- Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives as directed
- Travel periodically to other NETC/IRH locations within driving distance to provide on-site HR support.
What We're Looking For
Required- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a full-time human resources position
- General knowledge of payroll processes, including timekeeping, deductions, and pay cycle management
- Familiarity with HR fundamentals across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable working independently in an onsite environment while collaborating remotely with colleagues and leaders at other locations
- Willingness and ability to travel to other company locations within a reasonable driving distance on an as-needed basis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with Paylocity or comparable HRIS/payroll platform
- Multi-state employment compliance experience (MA, NH, ME, and/or CT)
- Prior experience collaborating with others in a remote environment

Work Environment & Expectations
This is a fully onsite role based at our Exeter, NH office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You will report to and work closely with the Head of HR and collaborate with leadership, managers, and employees across multiple locations in New England, primarily by phone, email, and video. Periodic travel to other sites within driving distance is expected and should be approached with flexibility and professionalism.Apply for this position
